County Louth GC appoints SVV to create masterplan

Historic County Louth Golf Club in Baltray, Ireland, originally designed by legendary golf course architect Tom Simpson, has hired Spogárd & Vandervaart to create a long term Development Masterplan for the 18 hole golf course. Furthermore SVV has been commissioned to add an extensive chipping and pitching area to the practise facilities as well as help with suggestions to optimise the entry road leading to the clubhouse.

Spogárd & VanderVaart to work on Denmark's most unique golf course

When it comes to golf courses, golfers often talk about 'Hidden Gems' - special golf courses that you might not even know exist, but are mind blowing when experienced. Nordvestjysk Golf Club is a true Hidden Gem. Tucked away in the far Northwest of Denmark, the course is laid out on inland dunes. The depth of the sandy dunes reaches 40 metres in places. The course is surrounded by heathland and pine forest and is a part of the National Park Thy.

"Working with course such as NVGC is an architects dream. You don't see a better piece of land than this. The sandy soil is ideal for golf, as it drains incredibly well. The course already has some of the best holes in Denmark, but there is still potential to optimize the course. The masterplan will help the club make sure that their investments in the course is part of well thought out plan that can lift the course to the next level. It is already highly regarded by golfing connoisseurs, and I see no reason why the course should not end up being among the best in Europe. It is in my opinion the most unique course in Denmark. No other course has a similar piece of land available to them", says Philip Spogárd who is working on the project, which stared during Autumn 2014.
