County Louth GC appoints SVV to create masterplan

Historic County Louth Golf Club in Baltray, Ireland, originally designed by legendary golf course architect Tom Simpson, has hired Spogárd & Vandervaart to create a long term Development Masterplan for the 18 hole golf course. Furthermore SVV has been commissioned to add an extensive chipping and pitching area to the practise facilities as well as help with suggestions to optimise the entry road leading to the clubhouse.

Spogárd & Vandervaart Recieves Prestigious Design Award

Today, Golf Inc. Magazine was published – officially naming Golfbaan Stippelberg, designed by Spogárd & VanderVaart Golf Course Architects, the Development of the Year 2011. The judges for the competition, Sam Sakocius and Rick Baril, empasized the well-planned execution of the project as well as the designers ability to work with the landscape to maximize the projects potential. The judges said: “The project achieved its concept and was very well routed. But more importantly it was a beautiful treatment of the land with a sensitive blending of natural surroundings and playability” – Sam Sakocius. “This project had a clearly articulated project statement. The result is a great example of clearly defined development goals, seamless collaboration and good execution. This project serves as an admirable example for rehabilitating the landscape and integrated golf with adjacent land uses. It’s nice to see a well-defined and well-executed development also achieve its financial goals.
